Tech Lab – Terms and conditions

By applying to participate in one or several of the educational tech courses concerning tech and innovation on site (the “Tech Lab Events”) or corresponding online courses (the “Tech Lab Online Courses”) (together referred to as the “Events”) you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (the “Conditions“).

Additional information about the Events may be published at https://www.solvefortomorrownordics.com or set out elsewhere in the application process.

The promoter of the Events is Samsung Electronics Nordic AB, company reg. no. 556445-4345, a company incorporated under the laws of Sweden and with the address Torshamnsgatan 48, P.O. Box 1235, SE-164 40 Kista, Sweden (“Samsung“).

1. Background

The Events, on the preliminary dates specified in section 4 below, will be hosted within the scope of tech, innovation and design-thinking together with inspirational people.The Events will be held in both Swedish and English.

The Tech Lab Online Courses will be provided online and will be supported by Hyper Island.

2. Definitions

”Applicant” means each individual who send in an Application to apply for participation in at least one (1) of the Events.

”Application” means an application to participate at one of the Events.

”Hyper Island” means Hyper Island Program AB, a company based in Stockholm, Sweden, acting as a subcontractor of Samsung for the purposes of facilitating the Tech Lab Online Courses.

”Invitation” means the invitation which each Applicant which is admitted to an Event will receive.

”Participant” means all Applicants who has received an Invitation to an Event.

3. Eligibility, Application and Invitation process

Eligibility

3.1 To be eligible to participate and apply to participate in any of the Events the Applicant must fulfil the following criteria:

  • be between 18-25 years old,
  • accept the Conditions, and
  • be resident in Sweden, Norway, Denmark or Finland.

No purchase is required for the Application to, or the participation in, any of the Events.

3.2 To apply for participation at an Event the Applicant must submit an Application to Samsung by filling the Application form here: https://www.solvefortomorrownordics.com/. Application to each Event will be open separately meaning that Applicants can apply for participation in one or several Events, but the Applicant must submit a separate Application for each Event it would like to attend. Each Event has a separate Application period; each Event’s Application period can be found on https://www.solvefortomorrownordics.com/.

The Applicant is, by submitting the Application, confirming that it has read, understood and accepted these Conditions.

Invitation process

3.3 For the Tech Lab Events, Samsung will send Invitations to the fifty (50) first Applicants to each Tech Lab Event.

For the Tech Lab Online Courses, Samsung will send Invitations to the first two hundred (200) Applicants to each Tech Lab Online Course.

Invitations will be sent to admitted Applicants’ email addresses at least 3 days before the Event start. The Invitation will contain a confirmation of the Participant’s spot at the relevant Event and in order to secure its spot, the Participant must confirm that it will attend the relevant Event in accordance with the instructions in the Invitation email. The Invitation will also contain necessary information about the Event such as place, time and instructions.

3.4 Each admitted Participant can bring one (1) person, provided that the additional person also fulfills the requirements in clause 3.1 above, to the Event it has received an Invitation to.

4. Timetable of the Events

4.1 The Events are divided into 3 parts as follows. The Events runs from 28 September to 20 December 2023, preliminary scheduled as follows:

4.2 All dates are subject to change by Samsung, updated dates for Events can be found on https://www.solvefortomorrownordics.com/. It is expected of all Participants to be active in all attended Events.

4.3 Samsung will send information to the Participant regarding the Events to the email address the Participant provides in the Application.

5. Personal Data

5.1 In order to participate in the Events, you must provide Samsung with certain personal data. The processing of your personal data for the purposes of the Events is described in the Privacy Notice for the Events ([insert link to updated Privacy Notice]). When submitting an Application, you acknowledge that Samsung will process your personal data in the capacity as independent data controller in accordance with the terms of the Privacy Notice. Such personal data will be collected, processed and stored by Samsung and Samsung’s data processors (as stated in 5.2 below) for the purpose of conducting, operating and administering the Events (including contacting the Participants in relation to the Events) and for publicity and marketing purposes (subject to the Participant’s separate consent as described separately when collecting such consent).

5.2 Samsung Electronics Nordic AB, reg. no 556445-4345, P.O. Box 1235, 164 40, Kista, Sweden, is the controller of the personal data and Hyper Island Program AB, reg. no 556783-3099, Stiftelsen Fryshuset, reg. no. 802011-1582, and SPACE – Contemporary Digital Culture Center AB, reg. no. 559206-7770 are Samsung’s data processors for the purposes of the Events. Samsung applies applicable data privacy laws when processing personal data.

In accordance with applicable law, you have the right to request information about how Samsung process your personal data. You also have (i) the right to request access to your personal data, (ii) the right to request us to rectify inaccuracies in your personal data, (iii) the right to object against the processing of your personal data, (iv) the right to request, under certain circumstances, to restrict the processing of your personal data, (v) the right to request to erase your personal data, and (vi) the right to request to have your personal data being sent to you in a machine-readable format (data portability). By participating in the Events, you accept to be bound by these terms and conditions and acknowledge the processing and storing of your personal data as set out in the Privacy Notice.

6. Other

Samsung reserves the right, acting reasonably and in accordance with all relevant legislation and codes of practice, to:

  • amend these Conditions due to an unexpected circumstance or due to a change in applicable legislation. The Participants shall be informed in an appropriate manner of any amendments at the latest 30 days prior to the change taking effect. The Participant may withdraw their Application if they do not consent to the amended Conditions.
  • exclude and/or remove Applicants and Participants from the Event(s) without compensation if an Applicant or a Participant does not comply with these Conditions or applicable laws or in any manner acts fraudulently or in detriment to the Event(s).

7. Limitation of liability

Samsung shall not be responsible or liable for: (a) any failure to receive, transmit or properly transfer Applications or the Events (including but not limited to, due to transmission errors and other circumstances beyond Samsung’s control); (b) any late, lost, misrouted, or damaged transmissions of Applications or Events; (c) any computer or communications related malfunctions or failures; (d) any disruptions, losses or damages caused by events beyond the control of Samsung; or (e) any evident printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Events.

8. Applicable law

The Events and these Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Swedish law, excluding its conflict of law principles. This does not prevent you from obtaining any rights that you may have under mandatory laws of your country of residence. Any dispute arising out of or in connection to the Events or these Conditions shall be resolved in the first instance by the District Court of Stockholm, Sweden. Alternatively, as a consumer you have the option to bring or answer to such dispute in the general court of your place of residence.  

Participants may also turn to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (“ARN”) to get its dispute resolved to the extent ARN is competent to try the dispute. ARN’s address is Box 174, 101 23, Stockholm, and the website address is www.arn.se.
